JOB the Patriarch

Job most likely predates the written words of Moses & the Pentateuch (Genesis - Deuteronomy).
Moses himself lived and recorded the Pentateuch after the Patriarchal period
(Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph predate Moses).
Many scholars conclude that Job's Narrative took place during the Patriarchal period.
Specifically, cities are mentioned in the Book of Job that match known places of Abraham's Saga.
Therefore, we place the book of Job after Genesis, because it seems to predate the Exodus,
and it gives us a parallel perspective of God's oversight with all mankind, (including the Gentiles)
during an age where God was calling out His People "Israel" as an example to the rest of the world.
Also, Job is an extremely poetical book, with a prologue & epilogue to open and close it's song,
therefore, as the books were arranged in the cannon of scripture,
Job was lumped in with the rest of the poetic books like Psalms, Proverbs, etc...
However, Historically and Chronologically Job fits in best with the Patriarchs...
